ROSEMONT, ILL. — Trailing 6-3 with two outs in the ninth inning, the Dogs appeared finished. But All-Star shortstop Josh Altmann pounded a first-pitch mammoth three-run home run to left field to tie the game, 6-6, and send it to extra innings. In the 10th inning, Jesus Lujano walked it off with a two-run single to give the Dogs a 9-8 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs.
Three Key Plays:
- Altmann’s home run in the ninth inning was his second home run in as many nights, and it kept the Dogs’ hopes alive.
- Jesus Lujano came to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th and the Dogs trailing, 8-7. He lined a base hit up the middle on a 3-2 count, scoring Cody Bohanek and Luke Mangieri to give the Dogs a walk-off win.
- Braxton Davidson first cut into the Lincoln deficit with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, narrowing the deficit to 4-3.
The Arms: Trevor Lane allowed two unearned runs in a four-inning start, while Lincoln’s John Bezdicek allowed two earned in four innings with six strikeouts.
The Bats: Chicago’s Braxton Davidson and Josh Altmann both homered, while Cody Bohanek tallied two hits. On the Lincoln side, Cody Panas and Nick Anderson each racked up three hits.
