Chicago Dogs drop game two to Fargo-Moorhead in ninth inning, 5-4.
The Dogs got on board early, as usual, scoring a run in the first inning after Brantley Bell doubled, scoring Nick Dalesandro.
Offensive production continued in the sixth inning after Jacob Teter hit a leadoff home run, his 14th of the season.
Teter ignited a rally, leading to Antonio Barranca and Dalesandro both hitting RBI singles. The middle inning rally put three additional runs on the board for the Dogs.
Despite the Dogs offense totalling eight hits and six walks drawn, pitching didn’t work out for the Dogs.
Thomas King started on the mound for the Dogs in the second game of the series, making his first professional start of his career.
King lasted just three innings, allowing three runs on five hits, walking three batters.
King was relieved by Tyler Driver, who allowed a run in 2.2 innings of work.
A bright spot from Dogs pitching came in the late innings from rookie pitcher Jake Carroll.
Carroll, making his professional baseball debut, pitched two hitless innings, keeping the Dogs in contention for a close game.
The game was tied at four a piece heading into the ninth inning. Cal Djuraskovic had pitched the final out of the eighth inning, was also handed the ball for the ninth inning, tasked with sending the game into extra innings.
Djuraskovic allowed a walk, then gave up the walk-off single to C.J. Valdez, losing the game in the late innings.
The Dogs will look to take the series in the series finale, behind Kenny Serwa on the mound.
