WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada — Austin Wright struck out seven over seven innings of work, but the Chicago Dogs could not get the offense going as they fell to the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 10-2, on Saturday night at Shaw Park.

The Goldeyes jumped on Wright (L, 5-7) in the bottom of the second. A bases-clearing double off the bat of Kevin Garcia drove in Dominic Ficociello, Adrian Marin and Alex Perez, putting Winnipeg ahead 3-0 early.

In the next inning, the Goldeyes added another run by way of an RBI groundout by Willy Garcia that scored Wes Darvill, extending his team’s lead to 4-0.

Gustavo Pierre got the Dogs on the board in the top of the fifth. He ripped a two-run double that scored Jordan Dean and Trey Vavra, bringing Chicago within two.

Mitchell Lambson (W, 12-2) was his dominant self for the Goldeyes, going seven strong innings and surrendering just two runs while striking out seven.

Winnipeg broke the game open by adding six runs in the bottom of the eighth off of Luke Wilkins and Harrison Smith, punctuated by run-producing hits from Garcia and Perez.

The Dogs conclude their nine-game road trip with a three-game series against the Milwaukee Milkmen that begins on Sunday. First pitch is set for 6:05 PM.
