Steven Lacey’s mound dominance continues, as Chicago Dogs avoid a series sweep in Winnipeg, taking game three 4-3.

Entering the series finale winless on the road, the Dogs looked to compete in Thursday’s game. Dogs coaching gave the nod to righty Steven Lacey, who has been arguably the best starter in the rotation for Chicago.

Lacey, who had only allowed one run in his first two starts, continued his excellence, throwing for eight innings, striking out four, while only allowing two runs. The second year pitcher with the Dogs lowered his season ERA to an impressive 1.35.

Dogs manager Jeff Isom made a couple changes to the lineup yesterday. Although they didn’t work in the game two loss, the changes worked just fine in the 4-3 victory. Dogs catcher Nick Dalesandro, who was moved up to the leadoff spot, hit his first home run of the season, driving in three RBI’s on the day.

Dogs first baseman Jacob Teter, was moved down to the cleanup spot. This fit him very well, as he hit his fourth longball of the season, one of his two hits in the game. Teter’s two hits helped raise his batting average to .286.

Outside of Dalesandro and Teter’s hits, only one other Dogs player reached base via a hit. Center fielder Johnni Turbo batted 1 for 4, scoring one of the Dogs’ four runs.

Four hits was all the Dogs needed, as they found themselves back in the win column, despite being outhit by five hits.

The team will stay on the road, heading to Sioux City, facing the Explorers once again. Although it’s not heaven, it is Iowa.
