The Dogs followed up their game one win over Lincoln with a satisfactory 8-1 stomping of the Saltdogs at Impact Field on Saturday night. Two homers, some timely hitting, and a fantastic pitching effort lead to the Dogs third straight win, and fourth in their last five games. Bryan Reyes, making his season debut for the Dogs, collected three hits on the night, including two doubles, one of which drove in the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. The Reyes hits sparked the rest of this lineup, which got on in front of some of their best hitters. Dusty Stroup hit his first home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 4-0, and then Alex McGarry hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, pushing the Dogs lead to 8-0. Chicago would eventually give up an unearned run in the 9th, but the pitching was also fantastic. Brady Miller made his first start of the season, and went seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk, striking out four. Former first round draft pick Keoni Cavaco then came in and threw two innings of 2 hit ball, with the only run he allowed to cross the plate being on a throwing error, thus being unearned. The Dogs are back in action tomorrow for the finale of the three-game set against the Lincoln Saltdogs. First pitch at Impact Field is scheduled for 3:00 pm. Zach Davidson is on the mound as the Dogs look for their first sweep of 2025. All Chicago Dogs games are streamed, live and free on aabaseball.tv.
