Kenny Serwa pitched eight outstanding innings, and the Dogs got a two run double from Chase Harris, as Chicago beat Kansas City tonight, 2-1.

The Dogs, playing at Legends Field for the first time since losing Game Four of the Wolff Cup Finals last September, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning as Harris, who went 2-3 with a pair of doubles, drove home Narciso Crook and Dusty Stroup.

The Monarchs would pick up a run in the sixth on an RBI double from Isaiah Gilliam, cutting the lead in half. That was as close as they would get however, as Serwa scattered six hits over his eight innings of work, walking just one and striking out four, throwing ninety-one pitches. Joey Marciano came in and set Kansas City down in order in the ninth, picking up his 21st save of the season.

Game two of the series will take place at 6:35pm tomorrow night. All-Star John Baker (5-3 3.74) will square off against former Major Leaguer, Matt Hall (3-0 1.80). All Chicago Dogs games are streamed, live and free on aabaseball.tv.
