The Dogs came back from a 6-1 deficit, snapping a four-game skid, beating the Sioux Falls Canaries, 9-8 at the Birdcage in Sioux Falls last night.
The Canaries struck first against Dogs starter, John Baker, scoring five times in the first, including homeruns by Hunter Clanin, Mike Hart, and Ernny Ordonez. Chicago would get one back in the second as Chance Sisco hit his first homerun as a Dog. In the top of the third, back-to-back doubles by Brantley Bell and Jacob Teter would bring the Dogs within four at 6-2.
In the third, the Dogs offense came to life as Alex McGarry hit his first as a Dog with a line drive over the right field wall, bringing Chicago within one at 6-5. A few batters later, with the bases loaded, rookie Kyle Schmack deposited the first pitch he saw from Ryan Zimmerman over the left center field wall for a grand slam, giving the Dogs their first lead at 9-6. JC Keys, Zach Davidson and Jacob DeLabio would work the final five frames, with DeLabio pitching 1 1/3 innings, striking out pinch hitter Ryan Zimmerman with the tying run on second base, earning his second save of the year.
The Dogs improved to 3-6 on the year with the win and look to take the series Sunday behind Dwayne Marshall, who will be making his first start of the season. First pitch set for 4:05pm. All Chicago Dogs games are streamed, live and free, on aa.baseball.tv
